Build wealth on a paycheque.

You don't need a big salary or a finance degree. You need a small deposit that runs every week, and someone to explain the rest in plain English. One idea, one move, one number, every Sunday. Built around Canadian accounts, but the habits work anywhere.

What lands in your inbox

The exciting stuff, explained by someone who isn't selling it.

Crypto, AI and hot stocks get the headlines. Accounts, fees and habits build the wealth. Every Sunday you get both, in five minutes, in plain English.

Crypto, minus the casino

Bitcoin without the hype or the fear.

How crypto fits a long-term plan, what a crypto ETF actually is, and why position size matters more than timing. No coin calls, ever.

AI & the future of money

Use AI like a tutor, not a guru.

ETFs & index investing

The boring engine behind most real wealth.

One ETF can hold hundreds or thousands of companies. What that means, what it costs, and why the fee line matters.

Wealth grows like a forest

Issue 1 · 5-min read

The Seed

Compounding means your money earns returns, then those returns earn returns. In the early years it feels like nothing is happening. That's when most people quit.

You're not giving money up. You're sending it ahead. At an illustrative 6%, every $1 you send ahead at 30 arrives as about $8 at 65. Wait until 45, and it arrives as about $3.

The Move

Pick an amount you won't miss, even $25. Set an automatic transfer from your chequing account to your TFSA on payday.

The Ring

$109,000That's the total TFSA room for someone who has been 18+ and living in Canada since 2009 and never contributed.

Field Notes

For over two years, a small deposit has gone into my TFSA every week without me touching it. I barely notice it anymore.

Who's writing

Nobody handed me the manual. So I'm writing it.

I'm Lucas. Seven years ago I moved from Brazil to Vancouver, a city where it rains sideways and the rent is priced as if the mountain view were included. I worked part-time and counted every dollar. TFSA, FHSA, RRSP: to me it was alphabet soup.

So I learned it the slow way. A few dollars at a time, a lot of reading, and more mistakes than I'd like to admit.

Then one boring change did more than all of it. Three months of expenses set aside. A small deposit that invests itself every week. Today I barely notice it, and for the first time I have peace of mind about money.

Planted North is the email I wish someone had sent me the week I started investing. I write it for the people around me who are where I was, and because a promise to you every Sunday keeps me on my own plan.

I believe in Bitcoin, and I'll tell you why. I'll never tell you what to buy.

What I'll never do

  • Tell you which stock or coin to buy.
  • Promise returns. Nobody can.
  • Hide how I get paid. Referral links and sponsors are labelled right next to the link.
  • Sell your email or send daily spam.

Quick answers

Before you plant.

Is it really free?

Yes. The Sunday email, the 64-page Field Guide and the TFSA vs FHSA vs RRSP cheat sheet are free. If paid extras ever exist, the weekly email stays free.

Is this financial advice?

No. It's general education about how investing, Canadian accounts and long-term habits work, plus my own journey. It isn't tailored to you. For decisions about your situation, talk to a registered professional.

Do you talk about crypto and AI stocks?

Yes, as topics to understand: how they work, how they fit (or don't) in a long-term plan, the risks and the fees. Never as "buy this now".

I'm behind. Is it too late?

No. Unused TFSA room carries forward, so it's still waiting for you. The email starts from zero and assumes nothing.

How often will you email me?

Once a week, on Sunday. Occasionally a short heads-up before a key date. One-click unsubscribe, any time.

Not in Canada?

You're welcome here. The accounts (TFSA, FHSA, RRSP) and rules are Canadian, but compounding, fees and habits work the same everywhere. Check your own country's rules before acting.

Plant today. Grow for decades.

The best time to start was 2009. The second best is this Sunday.
