Who we are
Planted North is a free newsletter and website about building wealth in Canada, run by Lucas in Vancouver, British Columbia. For this policy, "Planted North", "we" and "us" mean the operator of plantednorth.ca and the Planted North newsletter. Lucas is responsible for the personal information we handle and acts as our privacy contact: hello@plantednorth.ca.
What we collect and why

We don't ask for, and you should never send us, account numbers, SIN, passwords or other sensitive financial details.
Consent
You subscribe by entering your own email address, which is your express consent to receive the newsletter under Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). Every email identifies who sent it, gives a mailing address and has a one-click unsubscribe link that works immediately. You can withdraw consent at any time.
Cookies and tracking on this website
plantednorth.ca doesn't use advertising cookies, cross-site trackers or social-media pixels. To see which pages are useful, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits without cookies and without identifying you. Our fonts are hosted on our own server, and market prices on the site are fetched by our server, not your browser, so visiting the site doesn't send your information to Google or crypto data providers. The signup form is provided by beehiiv. Their form and attribution script may use cookies or similar storage to process your signup and record which link brought you (see beehiiv's privacy policy).
Who helps us run Planted North
We use a small number of service providers. They process information only to provide their service to us, under their own security and privacy terms:

Because some providers store data outside Canada, your information may be accessible to courts, law enforcement and national security authorities in those countries under their laws.
What we'll never do
- Sell, rent, trade or give away your email address.
- Add you to any list you didn't sign up for, or share your address with sponsors or partners.
- Recommend a stock or coin to you, or contact you to sell financial products.
How long we keep it
We keep your subscription while you're subscribed. If you unsubscribe, beehiiv keeps a minimal record of your address marked "unsubscribed" so you aren't emailed again by mistake. If you ask us to delete your data, we'll permanently remove it within 30 days (we may keep a suppression entry only if you want to make sure you're never re-added). Emails you send us are kept in our inbox until they're no longer needed.
How we protect it
- This site stores no subscriber data. It is served over HTTPS only, with strict browser security headers.
- Accounts that can reach subscriber data (newsletter, hosting, domain and email) are protected with strong unique passwords and two-factor authentication, and only Lucas has access.
- Subscriber exports, if made for backup, are stored encrypted and deleted when no longer needed.
- If a breach ever creates a real risk of significant harm, we'll notify you and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as the law requires.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct it, withdraw consent or have it deleted. Email hello@plantednorth.ca and we'll reply within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm the request from the subscribed address. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
Children
Planted North is meant for adults. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has subscribed, tell us and we'll remove them.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll update the date below and mention it in the newsletter.
